FuelWatch Happenings
  Hi

Welcome to the latest edition of FuelWatcher, the newsletter that saves Australian motorists money with fuel saving tips and information.

Another Bumper Year For FuelWatch!
The end of 2002 will mark another bumper year for FuelWatch, with community support ever increasing. A number of organizations have come on board in supporting FuelWatch in the past 12 months, showing that it is not only FuelWatch that is working to relieve the frustrations of motorists over fluctuating fuel prices. FuelWatch is now featured across Austereo, News Limited and the Seven Network, in addition to a range of other partners, meaning cheaper fuel prices are always at hand in newspapers, on television, radio and the internet. As the holiday season draws near fluctuating petrol prices will no doubt be in the spotlight once again, so we encourage you to stay tuned to FuelWatch and our partners to ensure that you always get the best deal on fuel.

Ethanol debate
Last month we launched the first in a series of articles about alternate fuels, with guest editor Damien Reid investigating zero emission, hydrogen-powered fuel cell technology. In response to overwhelming feedback from you, the user, this month Damien reports on the debate over the use of ethanol as an additive to fuel. The article is certainly thought-provoking and well worth a read, so make sure not to miss it!

Stop, Revive and Survive
We encourage all motorists to take extra care as the holidays approach, and if you’re traveling long distances make sure to take regular breaks from driving. We want to see everyone back safely next year, when we’ll be launching our new website and giving away some great prizes, so please take care. Remember, stop, revive and survive.

From the entire team at FuelWatch we wish each and every one of our FuelWatchers a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.

What Is Premium Unleaded Petrol?
Marketing has a lot to answer for when it comes to selling cars. After decades of stereotyping, it’s too late to change perceptions and no matter how much convincing and hard facts you may present, when you mention a performance car, the general reaction is you don’t give a damn about economy. Subaru's New Impreza
Changes to the Impreza are not just skin deep, as STUART MARTIN reports. Begone the bug-eye Impreza, behold the more attractive WRC-friendly Impreza range for 2003. Subaru insists this is more than just a head/tail-light and bonnet scoop (it's 20mm wider) facelift to perk up the looks. [Read more]

Road Test: Mazda RX-8
MAZDA'S exciting RX-8 will be available in Australia next year. STUART MARTIN took the first test drive in Japan. In many eyes, Mazda's RX-8 looks better in production than in concept (RX-EVOLV) form, sitting on the road with an aggressive squat. [Read more]

Fuel Saving Tips
Each month we will have a fuel saving tip that has been sent in from one of our FuelWatcher's. If you know of a way that can help other FuelWatcher's save money on their fuel bill please send it in. If your tip is published we will send you a $25 FREE fuel voucher.

This month's winner is Bill Veldmeyer from Queensland.

"Petrol on a busy highway can cost 2 to 3c more per litre than the same brand and same grade at a quiet corner just a few blocks away, so make sure to compare prices along the routes you normally drive."

Congratulations, your $25 free fuel voucher is on the way!
