FuelWatch Happenings
  Hi

Welcome to the latest edition of FuelWatcher, the newsletter that saves Australian motorists money with fuel saving tips and information.

FuelWatch is "A Current Affair"
News of the FuelWatch service is spreading daily thanks to the support of all our users. Along with regular spots in the media, including segments on the Austereo and Seven Network, FuelWatch was recently featured on A Current Affair, after Paul Clitheroe heard how much money we're saving motorists every year. Did you know that 86 percent of FuelWatchers save up to $50 per month by using FuelWatch, while 9 percent say they are saving over $100 a month? To read more interesting facts about FuelWatch and to see what Paul Clitheroe had to say about the FuelWatch service click here to view the segment fact files

FuelWatch & News Limited Move Forward!
In another exciting step forward in FuelWatch's relationship with News Limited, our free Buy a Car service will now be powered by News Limited. So if you're in the market for a car or you just want to dream a little, why not have a look at the new service available?

News Limited is now also supplying the monthly new car reviews featured in our newsletters, and from the reviews below you can see we have something to offer everyone. Whether it's a family car or a dream machine you're after the new car reviews are sure to please.

Fuel Prices 1991
On a more serious note, the talk of war against Iraq has prompted a number of inquiries regarding expected rises in the cost of fuel. FuelWatch's primary aim is to monitor fuel prices rather than predict potential rises, however it is interesting to look back in time. In the months leading up to the Gulf War in 1991 average unleaded petrol prices increased by over 20 cents, a rise which certainly had an impact on the amount spent at the pump. In times of uncertainty such as this FuelWatch will continue to be the leading provider of fuel pricing information in Australia in an attempt to reduce the impact of any price rise - war related or otherwise. So make sure you keep us in mind if fuel prices do start to rise and why not tell all your friends so they too can benefit from the free FuelWatch service.

Until next month, continue to enjoy the savings!

BHP's All Steel Economy Car
When it comes to improving fuel efficiency, searching for alternative fuels and exotic lightweight, composite materials are the accepted development paths, yet Australia’s own BHP has unveiled a 100 per cent steel bodied concept car which breaks all the rules. [Read more]

Hollywood Chooses Electric Cars
It's not often we get to trump the car manufacturers with better fuel economy figures than the glossy brochure, but that's exactly what we did after a long distance test behind the wheel of Renault's new 3-litre, 24-valve V6 Laguna Estate. [Read more]

Holden has delivered the goods with its XC Combo, reports STUART MARTIN
Caterers, florists and other deliverers can rejoice at the rejuvenation of the Holden Combo. Faced with serious competition as well as French flair from the Citroen Berlingo, stylists have given the Holden mini-load-lugger more than just the once-over. [Read more]

The Porsche Boxster is as great as it looks, reports KEVIN HEPWORTH
There are cars ... and then there are cars. Some are enjoyable to drive, others engage you, and a very elite few immerse you in the experience of driving. At Porsche, sublime is just a benchmark; immersion a way of life. [Read more]

After all the talk the Blue Oval has finally delivered, says KEVIN HEPWORTH, who took a 500km test drive
For months Ford has been drip feeding information about this car. This is new, that is new ... the best car we have ever built ... the phoenix that will raise Ford's large family car future from the ashes. Living up to the hype is never easy but after 500km behind the wheel of the BA range the inescapable conclusion is that Ford Australia has indeed spent the BA's $500 million development budget wisely. Fuel Saving Tips
Each month we will have a fuel saving tip that has been sent in from one of our FuelWatcher's. If you know of a way that can help other FuelWatcher's save money on their fuel bill please send it in. If your tip is published we will send you a $25 FREE fuel voucher.

This month's winner is Tim Borten from Queensland.

"Try to do several tasks in the same trip, rather than travelling to and from home doing one job at a time. This not only reduces your fuel bill, it will also save you time."
