MotorMouth Happenings

Hello again from the team at MotorMouth.

Now that we’ve well and truly left Easter behind I wanted to report back to you about what actually happened with fuel prices over Easter and whether motorists were getting ripped off or not.

Clearly we would be the first to jump up and down if anything fishy was going on, and it was refreshing to see Gary Fites from the RACQ in Queensland make the point that over Easter the price of fuel cycles normally just like it always does. He was absolutely right.

How do we know? Well we’ve tracked the prices up to, across and after Easter for who knows how long and guess what – the price cycle moves normally just like every other week of the year. This year was no exception (and as an interesting footnote, it was the cheapest Easter for fuel since 2005).

Thank you to those of you that participated in our last poll. The percentage breakdown was:

  • 54% use the site to find specific prices at specific locations
  • 41 percent use the site as a guide only
  • 4 percent don’t use the site for either reason.

This was a little surprising but it’s always nice to find out something new. To those of you that voted amongst the 4% please drop me a note and let me know how you are using our site – I’m sure it will be very interesting! We’ll have a new poll out very soon…

Have a terrific month of May; take care and safe motoring.

Cheers

Sean Rennick
