Hello and welcome to the January 2007 issue of the MotorMouth Newsletter.
This month I thought we would provide some facts on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)
LPG occurs naturally in underground reserves associated with crude oil and natural gas or it is produced as a by-product of oil refining.
Australia has substantial LPG reserves with 2 million tonnes being used a year domestically and net exports of 1.5 million tonnes.
LPG makes up approximately 9% of the market for all petroleum products in Australia.
The price of LPG is linked to the international price, the Saudi Contract Price, and it is cheaper than petrol and diesel as a result of being excise free.
To encourage the use of LPG the Australian Government provides tax-free grants to motorists of $1000 for the purchase of a LPG vehicle or $2000 for the conversion of a vehicle to run on LPG.
In October 2006 the sale of LPG vehicles in Australia was up by 69% and the number of vehicle conversions up by 100% compared with October 2005.

Efficient A6 no cause for shame
A car the size of a Falcon using a 2.0-litre engine is not going to set anyone's pulse racing. That didn't stop Audi slotting a 2.0-litre engine into its big A6 sedan to create a more affordable model for $75,900.
