This month we have taken a look at how much pain we are now experiencing at the pump compared to five years ago!

Check out the tables below to see how much each fuel in cents per litre has increased over this time.

No doubt those people using LPG will be smiling more than the rest of us.

In my view there are only two ways to make savings of any magnitude on your fuel bill:

  • Use your vehicle less - plan your trips better, catch public transport, put on your joggers!
  • Use MotorMouth to help you time your fuel purchases to buy near the bottom of the petrol cycle!

Until next month…

This Months Prize

This month's winner is Jenny from Kedron in QLD.

Jenny's entry - Passing the time on the road

"I will always remember as a family we would travel by car every year or two from Townsville to Brisbane to visit my Nana. To keep us occupied and to keep Dad awake and alert we used to play 'car cricket'.

Pick two teams, pick a car colour and the teams whose car came first was batting. Cars...1 run, trailers or campers...2 runs, light trucks...runs, buses.....4 runs and the big semis....6 runs. Anything Red was out and the next team would bat alternating. Pick which town or landmark was drinks break and so on.

It will be a great memory forever. We now play with our kids. So important to keeping our driver alert and talking and concentrating."

Congratulations Jenny! Your prize will be sent out to you shortly.

Quick Smart
With just 50 cars in the offing, Smart's turbocharged ForFour Brabus could become highly collectible. That's because DaimlerChrysler has decided to pull the pin on the ForFour, to concentrate on production of the tiny but successful ForTwo - the odd two-seater that's such a common sight in Europe.

Arrivals achieve Colt status
Manual variants of the Colt are now available, which means Mitsubishi is able to enter the light car segment at a more competitive starting price of $15,990, $3000 cheaper than the previous base model, a CVT automatic LS. And there's a new star to the Colt range, with the turbocharged Ralliart now available.

Camry takes on the big-sixes
SO HERE we go . . . the most intensive car war in a generation is about to begin as Toyota rolls an all-new family Camry into action only a week after GM Holden offered its first preview of the crucial all-new VE Commodore.

M means mediocre
This should be a road rave about the newest M car in Australia. In a lot of ways, it is. It is impossible not to rave about a roadster with the punching power of the classic BMW M3 coupe, and grip and response that turn every trip into a drive.
