MotorMouth Happenings

Hello and welcome to the February issue of the MotorMouth Newsletter.

We receive a lot of emails asking for information on Ethanol. For some up to date information on whether your vehicle is suitable to run on fuel blends of up to 10% ethanol, please visit the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries Web site at:

http://www.autoindustries.com.au/ethanol.php/2005/11/00000005.html.

Whilst MotorMouth’s main focus is to report the cheapest known fuel prices in each local area, using a discount fuel offer may increase your savings. However with intense competition between the various brands you may find that a site without a discount offer may be the cheapest on a particular day or offer superior service or the cleanest fuel.

Last month we featured discount fuel offers from IGA and Mobil. This month we highlight the offers available from easyfuel and Servo Savers. We encourage you to take a look at their offers and see if they are available in your local area.

easy fuel

easyfuel

  • Customers shop at local participating easyfuel retailers
  • Each retailer nominates a "cent per litre offer" based upon nominated spend or specific items
  • Customer swipes their card to receive cents per litre discounts (easyfuel card is free to consumers)
  • Customer shops at other participating easyfuel retailers, and their new cent per litre discounts ADD on to what they already have.
  • Customer redeems accumulated cents per litre discounts at participating service stations.
  • Customer card is "cleared" (re-set to zero)
  • The process starts all over again
  • Consumers can earn up to a free tank of fuel to a maximum 50 litres
  • Cent per litre discounts expire at the end of the following month ie 2 months max.

MotorMouth Competition

This Months Prize

This month's winner is Chris from Old Bar in NSW.

Chris's entry - No Rego Fees

"An equitable way of paying your registration and drivers licence would be to add say 5c a litre to the cost of fuel and charge nothing for your rego, CTP or licence.

In this way you would pay an amount commiserate with the numbers of Ks you drive each year. Somebody driving a 1000ks per annum currently pays the same as someone driving 100000."

Congratulations Chris! Your prize will be sent out to you shortly.

Goodbye Holden Monaro, hello Holden Tigra
There was a time when the four words, small, Holden, sporty and coupe could have made knowledgeable car enthusiasts snigger, or at least arch their eyebrows. They knew there was no such thing. Back then a Holden sportscar was a snorting, fire-breathing beast – the Monaro GTS 350 or a Torana A9X were examples of the breed in its prime. How the world changes. In 2006 it's goodbye Holden Monaro, hello Holden Tigra.
