MotorMouth Happenings

Hello and welcome to the July 2005 edition of the MotorMouth newsletter.

Record High Petrol Prices

In the past month, motorists have seen record high average petrol prices throughout the country. So, what were the highest average ULP prices recorded by MotorMouth in each city and when were they recorded? This information is charted below.

Looking to buy a used car?

We highly recommend taking a few moments to read through the recently published USED CAR SAFETY RATINGS Buyers Guide Brochure (2005). Motoring organisations from across Australia and New Zealand have published the guide covering 288 passenger vehicles built from 1982-2003.

The guide clearly presents the following information:
a) How much is your vehicle likely to protect you?
b) How seriously is your vehicle likely to harm another road user?

To view the USED CAR SAFETY RATINGS Buyers Guide (2005), go to Page 1 or Page 2.

The used car safely ratings in the brochure were calculated using crash records from over one million police-reported crashes in Australia and New Zealand between 1987 and 2004. This information was analysed by Monash University’s Accident Research Centre in Melbourne.

To learn more about this and other car safely information, visit the NRMA website or the RACV website. To learn more about The Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), click here.

In other news, don’t forget to send your entries through to our Open Your MotorMouth Competition. Each month’s winner receives a fantastic book (or series of books) to the value of $50 from QBD The Bookshop. Click here to enter.

Until next month, happy motoring!

MotorMouth Competition

This Months Prize

This month's winning entry - Fuel Saving Tips

"1. Fill up your car on cold mornings as the fuel has contracted, as the day heats up your fuel will expand giving you more fuel than if you bought it during the heat of the day.

2. Never buy fuel whilst the contractor is delivering fuel to the servo as the fuel is still hot from the refinery and expanded. Servos loose approximately 1000 litres per 33000 litres from fuel deliveries because when the fuel cools over night it contracts."

Congratulations! Your prize will be sent out to you shortly.

EMAIL IN AND WIN!
