Hi

Welcome to our 4th edition of FuelWatcher. This edition is loaded with exciting news and information.

The FuelWatch partner network continues to grow from strength to strength. FuelWatch can now be found on radio stations (AM & FM), television, print and of course the Internet. We believe it is important that every Australian motorist has the ability to access FuelWatch over any medium.

Other exciting alliances include the recent inclusion of FuelWatch content on the Australian Consumers' Association's CHOICE website. CHOICE is a household name to many Australians who read the CHOICE magazines for independent and unbiased information on all types of products and services. For more information on CHOICE please visit www.choice.com.au

Once again this month we are including more feature articles by our guest motoring editor, Damien Reid. There was a great response to last month's articles by Damien and a lot of interest was generated over the story on "hybrid" electric cars. As a follow-up story this month Damien has prepared an article titled Do Hybrids Really Save Money In The Long Run? It makes for an interesting read. All of Damien's articles can be found in What's News?

Last month we announced that FuelWatch will soon be launching a new service for Service Station Operators. I am pleased to say our development team is on track and this new service will be live from mid March. It will allow Service Station operators to enter their prices directly into the FuelWatch whenever they change, providing more up-to-date pricing information for motorists and enabling Service Station operators to get more exposure for their business. For more information click here.

And finally, we are pleased to announce a new car buying service on the FuelWatch website, providing vehicle specifications, pictures and no obligation hassle free enquiries. All vehicle makes and models are available to help you find the right car. To search for a new car click here.

Until next month, happy motoring!

What's News

This month's articles are once again presented by our guest Motoring editor - Damien Reid -

Do Hybrids Really Save Money In The Long Run?
Last month we featured the technologically advanced - half electric, half petrol - Toyota Prius to determine exactly how far we could get on a tank of petrol and the results were impressive at $59 for a return trip from Sydney to Brisbane. However... [ read more ]

Standby For The New Fuel War - The Diesel Revolution
You may not have noticed it, but there's a quite revolution happening in new car showrooms and at fuel bowsers across the country. It's called Diesel and it's coming to a driveway near you - especially if you're into European luxury. Right now, there are 21 models of new car and four-wheel drive vehicles on Australian roads using diesel... [ read more ]

Aussie Smart Car, A World's First
An experimental car which can override driver error and reduce road accidents has been developed by a team of students at the University of Tasmania who claim it to the world's first "smart" car... [ read more ]

Fuel Saving Tips

Each month we will have a fuel saving tip that has been sent in from one of our FuelWatcher's. If you know of a way that can help other FuelWatcher's save money on their fuel bill please send it in. If your tip is published we will send you a $25 FREE fuel voucher.

This month's winner is Peter Sokolowski of Coburg, Victoria.

"You can save fuel by working your air-con smarter. When coming back to a hot cabin or your car. Open the windows or doors, turn fan on with no air-conditioning, and expand the hotter air out of the car. Your air con will cool to optimum temperature fast in side the car, which will save fuel, by distressing the engine sooner from having to run the air con at maximum."

Congratulations Peter, your $25 free fuel voucher is on the way
