FuelWatch Happenings

Welcome to the New Year edition of FuelWatcher. This is the first edition for 2002 and will combine both our January and February newsletters. This FuelWatcher is jam packed full of exciting news and new developments.

Great news for Australian motorists is the recent alliance between FuelWatch and the Seven Network. Starting last week on the Sunrise breakfast show, channel 7 began broadcasting their own FuelWatch service. I believe this is a great step towards a more transparent marketplace and is another way FuelWatch is working to get the Australian motorist a better deal.

Damien Reid
Guest Motoring Editor - Damien Reid
We are privileged this month to have guest motoring editor, Damien Reid. Damien has been a professional motoring journalist since 1988 and has written for the Daily Telegraph, Daily Mirror, Sunday Telegraph and The Australian. He has also acted as media manager and sponsorship manager for various motorsport competitors in the World Superbike Championship, World 500cc, Australian V8Supercar, Australian NASCAR and Australian Formula Three racing.

Damien has provided a wide range of stories on topics like fuel consumption and the new "hybrid" electric cars. All the stories can be found in What's News?

As part of our commitment to constantly improving your FuelWatch service, we will be launching a new service for Service Station operators. This will give Service Station operators the chance to update their prices whenever they change while giving more Service Stations from other areas in Australia the chance to participate. For more details on this new service click here.

Prior to Christmas we ran the FuelWatcher Christmas survey and gave away 20 secret Santa gift vouchers and the latest model Ericsson mobile phone. Congratulations to all our secret Santa winners and to Steve Flemming from NSW the winner of the Ericsson phone.

And last but not least I would like to welcome the new members of the FuelWatch team, Adrian Launchbury, Conrad Woolston and Kymberley McMahon who have all joined the team in the last few weeks. Welcome aboard!

Fuel Saving Tips

Each month we will have a fuel saving tip that has been sent in from one of our FuelWatcher's. If you know of a way that can help other FuelWatcher's save money on their fuel bill please send it in. If your tip is published we will send you a $25 FREE fuel voucher.

This month's winner is Tanya Kane.

"If you don't take your car, Ute etc in for regular services - at least change the petrol filter along with the oil filter. If the petrol filter is changed regularly (about every 10,000 kms) your car will run smoother as the impurities are extracted from the petrol. It's so easy to do"

Congratulations Tanya, your $25 free fuel voucher is on the way
